New Residential Care Home
Work has begun on site at the end of September 2011 to construct a new 19-bed residential care home for our Client, Manorville Care Homes Limited, in West Kingsdown, Kent. This is the culmination of three years hard work. Harris Consulting is appointed in the role of Contract Administrator and Project Manager. Completion is expected summer 2012.
London to Paris Bike Ride
In June Malcolm joined 140 cycling enthusiasts with his son Jonny and close friend Roy Pickavance and completed the London to Paris Bike Ride in aid of the Big Issue Foundation. 250 miles in 3 days! ‘An amazing experience that is memorable not only for doing it with my son, the great people we met, the beautiful countryside we passed through, the substantial sum of money we helped to raise for the nation’s homeless, but also the amount of food we consumed. It seemed they were hungry the whole time; I actually put on 4 pounds in weight! Now planning the next one. More...

Quantity Surveying Team Adjudication Success
Michael Harris led a QS team to review and rebut multi-million pound claims made by a national contractor against services sub-contractor. This involved referring 8 disputes to adjudication. The resounding success of the decision reached nullified the contractor's claims & led to a favourable settlement in mediation.
Post Contract Advice
Harris Consulting successfully provided post-contract advice and implemented three successive adjudications on behalf of a Bedfordshire based Sub-contractor. Adjudicator's awards in respect of wrongful withholding, lawful suspension and the Main Contractor's repudiatory breach resulted in the recovery of monies by the Sub-Contractor that exceeded a total of £250,000.00. Harris Consulting successfully tendered and appointed consultants to advise a Greater London ALMO [Arms Length Management Organisation] in respect of Extension of Time and Loss and/or Expense claim (in excess of £1m) on a Local Authority Housing contract.
Harris Consulting was has also been engaged by an International Telecommunications firm to advise contract terms and conditions relating to a network roll-out in Russia.
The firm continues to be engaged in construction adjudication both as party representatives and in the role of adjudicator.
Harris Consulting was appointed to provide Expert services in respect of Quantum on a substantial damages claim arising from a defective gas installation.
Against substantial competition Michael Harris was accepted onto the RICS’ presidential panel of adjudicators.
Malcolm Harris successfully completed his studies for an LLB degree at the London Southbank University and was delighted to be awarded a First Class Honours degree. During the four year course he was awarded the following prizes:
- Sweet and Maxwell Law Prize for ‘Best Performing Student on full-time and part-time LLB’ for year 2
- Sweet and Maxwell Law Prize for ‘Best Performing Student on full-time and part-time LLB’ for year 3
- Oxford University Press Law Prize 2007
